Social media platform Reddit experienced an outage this afternoon at around 12:20 PM PT (or possibly earlier), resulting in thousands of users being unable to access its website and app. Four hours later, it seems to be working again.
Reddit has confirmed that it has fixed the issue and is monitoring the results, according to its site Status page.
We discovered the outage ourselves when trying to visit the home page, which displayed a black screen with the message: “Upstream connection error or disconnected/reset before headers. Reset reason: Connection failed.” On the iOS app, we only saw the dead head of Snoo, Reddit’s alien mascot.
