Now you can look like you’re participating in a Zoom call at your office, even when you’re sipping a margarita in your hammock far away. Thanks to a months-old startup called pickleits pitch is simple: Simply send a five-minute training video of yourself to create an avatar, and within 24 hours, you’ll be ready to go. Do you want to call your colleagues from the car? No problem. Too lazy to get out of bed? No problem. At the beach club? You’re probably pushing it, although according to the demo video, it’s also ideal if no one on the call is paying close attention to “you.” (The service is currently available in Basic, Standard, and Pro versions, priced from approximately $300 per year to $1,150 per year.)
Backed by Los Angeles startup Krew Capital, the technology currently only works with MacOS, Pickle says, though she says a Windows version is coming next month. As for conferencing apps users can choose from, they include Zoom, Google Meet, and Teams, Pickle says, adding on her site that “due to high demand, copy creation is currently delayed.”
