Reddit is focusing on international markets like the UK, India, Brazil, and the Philippines to boost its user base.
More than 50% of Reddit’s user base is outside the United States, said Gene Wong, the company’s chief operating officer. CNBC in an interview.
Wong highlighted India, noting that English-speaking users from the country engage in topics such as cricket and Bollywood.
“India is growing very quickly. We see a huge opportunity in India,” she told the publication.
The company plans to expand its translation efforts as it aims to expand its machine learning-based translation feature to more than 30 countries through 2025, CEO Steve Hoffman said in October.
The United States still accounts for 83% of Reddit’s total revenue, according to third-quarter results. Wong told CNBC that the company plans to expand its local advertising to other countries.
