In the decades since its 1958 release, Brenda Lee’s “Rockin’around the Christmas Tree” has gained the status of an all-time holiday classic. Sixty-six years later, the Spanish language has been reshaped thanks to “responsible” AI.

Universal announced Friday the release of “Noche Buena y Navidad,” which used SoundLabs AI’s MicDrop technology to reconstruct Spanish vocals based on the 13-year-old Lee’s original song.

Lee, now 79, seems to agree. “Throughout my career, I have performed and recorded many songs in different languages, but I have never recorded a Rockin’ song in Spanish, which is something I wanted to do,” says the singer. “To have this out now is incredible and I’m thrilled to introduce the song to fans in a new way.”

With the holiday now exactly two months away, music executives are surely dreaming of an AI-powered Christmas.
