Startup in Paris villagran It’s quickly becoming the next cybersecurity rocket ship to track: The company has just raised a $35 million Series B round, just a few months after raising $16 million in a Series A round.
Filigran’s flagship product is OpenCTI, an open source threat intelligence platform that allows businesses or public sector organizations to import threat data from multiple sources, and enrich that data set with information from providers like CrowdStrike, SentinelOne or Sekoia.
the Open source version OpenCTI has attracted contributions from 4,300 cybersecurity professionals and has been downloaded millions of times. The European Commission, FBI, and New York City Cyber Command use OpenCTI. The company also offers an enterprise edition that can be used as a software-as-a-service product or hosted on-premises, and its clients include Airbus, Marriott, Thales, Hermès, Rivian and Bouygues Telecom.
Filigran has leveraged this success to add other products and create an integrated cybersecurity suite called the Extended Threat Management (XTM) suite.
Another product is OpenBAS, which is a beach simulation and attack platform. You can use OpenCTI and OpenBAS separately, but using them together should provide a better overview of potential risks.
Filigran takes advantage of the fact that it is always easier to launch a second product when your first product is very popular. The startup is already working on its third product.
“By 2026, our goal is to offer a comprehensive suite of three integrated products, providing comprehensive solutions in threat management that directly address the complex cybersecurity challenges that modern organizations face,” Samuel Hussein, co-founder and CEO, told TechCrunch.
Interestingly, Villigran also draws inspiration from GitHub and Hugging Face, which are major hubs for open source software and AI development, respectively. Hussein said Villegran wants to launch the XTM Hub — “a collaborative platform designed to empower the cybersecurity community” — by the end of the year.
“The hub will serve as a central forum where users can access resources, share business skills, and connect with others in the Filigran ecosystem,” he added.
Insight Partners is leading the Series B round, with existing investors Accel and Moonfire investing again. In addition to product development, part of this funding round will be used to expand Filigran’s presence in other regions. The company operates in France, the United States and Australia, and plans to expand into Germany, Japan and Singapore.
