Former CNN anchor Don Lemon said Wednesday that he is leaving Elon Musk’s company X, a decision made less than a year after X Announce “The Don Lemon Show” will appear on the social media platform three times a week. That deal was canceled before it was signed, and Lemon filed a lawsuit against Musk and X over the deal in August.
Lemon pointed out Updated X Terms of Servicewhich begins Friday and stipulates that all disputes with the company must be handled in a North Texas court.

Earlier this year, X announced several video content partnerships with big names like former congresswoman and 2020 presidential candidate Tulsi Gabbard, sports commentator Jim Rome, and most surprisingly – Don Lemon. It was part of a broader video campaign on X that has yet to be rolled out, almost a year later. Lemon said at the time that he resonated with the free speech message Musk was promoting.
Contract negotiations between X and Lemon broke down before an agreement could be reached. In the midst of negotiations, Lemon interviewed Musk to be the first guest on his new show, which was scheduled to appear on Channel X, and also on YouTube and other platforms as part of the deal — it was never an exclusive partnership. Musk became visibly uncomfortable and upset during that interview, as Lemon urged the billionaire to report his ketamine use, his views on DEI, and moderation of X’s content.
“Don… choose your questions carefully, you have 5 minutes,” Musk said in an interview.
Shortly after that interview, Musk canceled the deal with Lemon. Semaphore reported Musk sent a text message to Lemon’s agent with a brief but harsh message: “Contract cancelled.”
From there, things got worse. In August, Lemon A lawsuit in federal court against Musk and X alleging that he was tricked into entering into a business arrangement under false pretenses. In September, Musk asked a federal judge to dismiss the lawsuit, but the case appears to be continuing.
