As promised, Y Combinator’s upcoming Demo Day will be held in person. In fact, YC appears to have kicked off the IRL return of Demo Day at the end of the long Thanksgiving weekend, with an in-person Graduate Demo Day on Sunday for its fall 2024 startup class.
Squad founder (and later Twitter and Meta product manager) Esther Crawford He praised The “high energy” of hearing 93 startups pitch in person, while Avni Patel Thompson, Founder and CEO of Milo, Describe it As “an exercise for the founders, but also a great reward for alumni to come back and support the current batch.”
The “rehearsal” is supposed to be on the day of the keynote, where the founders pitch their ideas to an audience of investors and press. This demo day is scheduled to take place later this week, on Wednesday, December 4.
Virtual demo days were a lingering artifact of the shift to remote work during the pandemic; At YC’s demo day in September, CEO Gary Tan said those demos would be the last to be held entirely online, “knock on wood”.
Now YC describes Demo Day is “back to being in person,” with an invitation-only audience of about 1,500 people — and if you can’t make it to San Francisco, you’ll have to make do with the Demo Day website “which has information on the companies that presented.”
