X, the Elon Musk-owned social media network formerly known as Twitter, has added a new image generator to its Grok assistant.
So this is new @grok The photo generation called Aurora shipped on Saturday, what do you guys think?
It looks like it was trained by them, no reviews or details, just, go ahead, use this thing.
He seems to focus on the realism of the image

Just like the first image generator
Accessible through the Grok tab on the X’s mobile and web apps, Aurora can create images of generic and copyrighted characters, like Mickey Mouse, without complaint. The model stopped short of nudity in our brief tests, but graphic content, such as “image of a bloodied Donald Trump,” was not prohibited.

Aurora’s origins are a bit mysterious.
Staff On xAI Musk’s AI startup, which is developing Grok and many of X’s AI-powered features, announced Aurora in posts on X early Saturday. But the posts did not reveal whether xAI trained Aurora itself, built it on top of an existing image generator, or, as was the case with xAI’s first image generator, Flux, collaborated with a third party.
Here are my pictures using the new Grok @grok Aurora image generator: 🧵
However, the Aurora seems to excel at realistic images, including landscapes and stills. But it is not without flaws. X users posted images created by Aurora showing objects blending together unnaturally and people without fingers. (Hands are known to be very difficult for image generators.)

Aurora’s release comes after X made Grok free for all users; Previously, the chatbot was protected behind an $8-per-month Premium X subscription. Free users can send up to 10 messages to Grok every 2 hours and create up to 3 photos per day.
