The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration said Monday it has done so Preliminary investigation closed to Fisker over complaints that its all-electric Ocean SUV was pulling unexpectedly. The US safety regulator opened an investigation in February after receiving four complaints – one of which resulted in injury – about vehicles failing to turn into a parking space.
The investigation was closed after bankrupt Fisker issued a recall of 7,745 of its all-electric SUVs and resolved the issue with a software update, according to the NHTSA. The software upgrade, released last month, “provides additional strength to prevent unintended vehicle movement through two key changes,” the agency said.
NHTSA’s Office of Defect Investigation still has one remaining investigation focused on complaints that Fisker vehicles had problems with unintended emergency braking. In 2024, federal regulators opened four investigations into Fisker vehicles that included complaints of a sudden loss of braking performance, multiple allegations of inadvertent automatic emergency braking, rollover risks, and problems opening the doors to the vehicle.
