Google has released a prototype of its Project Astra augmented reality glasses for real-world testing. The glasses are part of Google’s long-term plan to one day have devices with augmented reality and multimedia AI capabilities. In the meantime, they will release demos to attract the attention of consumers, developers, and competitors.
Along with glasses, Google also announced the new Android XR operating system, which will allow developers to build experiences for XR devices such as glasses and headphones. The operating system will power the Project Astra glasses alongside Samsung’s newly announced Project Moohan headset, which will go on sale next year.
