Launched earlier this summer, Openvibe initially made it possible to stay in touch with friends and followers across Mastodon, Nostr, and Bluesky, by letting you view posts in a combined timeline and post to different networks simultaneously.

Although there are some existing bridges being built across these networks, they may require additional servers, mirror accounts and user subscriptions, Svancer explained. He believed that this was not the best way forward, and that a simple cross-deployment implementation would be a better solution to lower the barrier of entry for new users.
“I believe the open social space can challenge legacy social media, but only if it is united,” the founder previously told TechCrunch.
With the addition of Threads support, which was rolled out to Openvibe this week across iOS and Android, users can now log in with their accounts, cross-post, and reply across Threads, Mastodon, Bluesky, and Nostr. They can also follow people in consolidated feeds from all networks and see suggested followers from each network, Svancer says.
He notes that although the Threads API is still “very limited,” Openvibe has worked to take full advantage of the functionality it offers to create a user-friendly experience, with the app currently remaining free to use and ad-free. The founder noted that more features will be added over time as the Threads API itself evolves and improves.
Since the launch of Threads support, some users have reported trouble launching the app, but Openvibe has directed them to troubleshooting Documents For help. The new version that includes support for threads also includes some bug fixes and an updated post-authoring flow that provides a “smoother and more reliable experience,” Openvibe claims.
The application can be downloaded for free at iOS and Android But later she plans to try the desktop version. To generate revenue, the app will later offer a subscription plan, but that has not arrived yet.
Openvibe isn’t the only cross-posting app addressing the Twitter alternative problem. In addition to more professional solutions aimed at social media marketers, Croissant is another consumer-facing app that supports cross-posting to Threads, Bluesky, and Mastodon. However, a subscription plan starting at $2.99 per month has already been implemented.
