Apple just released iOS 18.1.1, but iOS 18.2 will come with exciting photo creation features, like “Image Playground,” Apple’s photo creation feature that creates cartoon-like images from text descriptions.
Here’s what you need to know about Apple Intelligence, including what it is, how to use it, and when it launches.
What is a photo playground?
Image Playground is part of Apple Intelligence, Apple’s suite of AI-based tools. The new feature allows users to enter a text prompt, and the AI will produce a cartoon-style image.
You can access Image Playground through An application dedicated to creating images Or through the Messages application by clicking on the plus (+) button located on the left side of the text box.
The Playground app is available on the home screen; Look for an icon that looks like a white cat or a fox (or maybe another furry creature; we’re not entirely sure).
How to create images with Playground
Using Image Playground is fairly easy. As with other image generators, there’s a text input area where you can describe the image and let the AI create it for you, such as “Dog blowing out birthday candles on cake.”
If the results aren’t exactly what you want, you can adjust the results with more detailed descriptions or choose one of Apple’s recommendations. You will see several image options to scroll and select.
You can also upload a photo of yourself, your pet or a family member to have an AI-generated portrait of them, and add elements like a party hat to wear or a beach background. Additionally, you can change the art style.
When is Image Playground launching?
Image Playground is part of the iOS 18.2 public beta. Anyone enrolled in Apple’s beta program can access it. The official launch is expected to take place in December.
