World Laboratories announced New AI feature that turns 2D images into mini worlds. This tool, the first from the hugely popular Fei-Fei Li company, takes a quick reference or 2D image and spits out a fully navigable 3D environment.
By creating in 3D, World Labs can avoid some of the control and consistency issues of other image and video generators. The GenAI tool creates scenes with continuous visual aspects, real-time control, and consistent geometry, allowing creators to create precise camera movements within the created environment – even though the boundaries of the scene are still very close.
This kind of rapid creation could have a big impact on the way people create movies, video games, and simulators — especially when combined with a workflow that uses other AI-powered video tools. Animation studios have already begun experimenting with using this technology to create consistent AI-generated backgrounds to easily display characters in different scenes.
