Microsoft has announced the latest addition to the Phi family of generative AI models.
Called Phi-4, the model is improved in several areas over its predecessors, Microsoft claims — particularly mathematical problem solving. This is partly due to improved quality of training data.
Phi-4 is available in very limited access as of Thursday night: only on recently launched Microsoft devices Azure AI Foundry Development platform, and for research purposes only under the Microsoft Research License Agreement.
It is worth noting that the Phi-4 is the first model of the Phi series to be launched after the departure of Sebastian Bobek. Bubeck, who was previously vice president of artificial intelligence at Microsoft and a key figure in developing the company’s Phi model, Leave Microsoft in October to join OpenAI.
